Aloha Friday

It's Friday. Time to kick back and take it easy!

Here's how you play: simply answer my question here in the comments. Then check out Kailani's blog to see who else is participating. And you can also post your own question on your blog too!

My question today:

How do you define the following: lunch, dinner, and supper?
And what time of day do you have each?

My answer: Lunch is the noon meal on any day but Sunday. Supper is the evening meal. And dinner is the noon meal on Sunday or the big meal on a holiday.

Don't forget to check out who else is playing!

For me, "lunch" is the noon meal, "dinner" is the evening meal. I have never used "supper" but my husband grew up calling them the same way as you.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our time schedule goes along with when we're hungry.
Your question reminds me of a co-worker my son had in construction. The guy called lunch "dinner" and he carried a "lunch bucket". Thus...my son and the guys called him "Dinner-bucket". :)

lunch is the noon meal and dinner is the evening meal. we've never really used the word supper.

my mom used to live in a farming community in oklahoma where the farmers came into town for their mid-day meal (maybe that was just sunday) and they called that dinner.

have a great weekend.

"lunch" is the noon meal and "dinner" and "supper" are the same thing to me, the evening meal. My husband uses all three and it confuses me sometimes, lol.

Lunch is the noontime meal. I usually eat it at 12:30. Dinner is the evening meal and we usually eat it at 5:45 - 6:00. I grew up calling dinner "supper" but now I call it dinner. I do not know why I changed what I call it.

breakfast - dear hubby's coffee in the morning after waking up.
lunch - meal at lunch break!
dinner - meal after the day's work!

Lunch for us is at noon, but since my husband starts his day super early, lunch for him is like 9. So then dinner for him is like 3 or 4. The kids and I eat dinner or supper anywhere from as early as 5 to almost 7.
Supper to me means anything after, because my mother always had a late night supper for my dad when he got home from work.

Lunch is usually around 11:30am, since I have a toddler. In Europe, it is the biggest meal of the day. Dinner for Europeans is usually around 6 or 7pm. In Germany it is called Abendbrot or Evening bread. Ususally consists of breads, cheeses, cold cuts and veggies. Light eating.
